- The Northeast's largest anime convention cancelled because of restrictions on gatherings related to COVID-19 virus
January 28, 2021 - Otakon Asks for Donations To Avoid Closing Forever
- Otakorp, the parent company of Otakon, has sent out a newsletter which conveys rather dire circumstances for the future of the convention. It states that they will need to "make a decision to continue planning for Otakon 2021, or potentially close our doors forever."
January 22, 2021 - Setsucon 2021 Will be Occurring Virtually This Coming April
- Setsucon, Pennsylvania's winter anime convention, will be holding an online-event, in-place of its previously announced in-person event, this year.
May 27, 2020 - It Took Longer, but May 2020 Is the Second Conventionless Month Since 1974
- The final May convention has officially announced its inevitable postponement. This makes May 2020 the second conventionless month in a row due to COVID-19.
April 9, 2020 - April 2020 Is the First Conventionless Month in Over 40 Years
- Conventions have been announcing cancellations starting back in mid-March, but as of today, every single fan convention that had been scheduled for April 2020 has been either cancelled or postponed.
