Kakkoi|con announces guests and events

Kakkoi|con is proud to announce that pre-registration will be opening on Tuesday January 1st, 2008. Printable mail-in forms will be available, as well as Online Registration. Hotel Reservations for the convention room block will also be available online.

ABOUT KAKKOI|CON

Kakkoi|con is an exciting convention that is scheduled to take place August 1st through the 3rd of 2008 in Minneapolis, MN. This is an event that people of all ages may attend, however some of the events scheduled will have an age restriction due to strong language, adult content, and there will be ID checks to prevent minors from attending.

Kakkoi|con, is an event that is meant to reach beyond the scope of just Japanese Animation to include Japanese music, fashion, style, and cultural aspects. We feel that by doing this we can provide a greater appreciation of Japanese Society. However, Anime will still be the core of what Kakkoi|con is about.

What you can expect at Kakkoi|con?

Kakkoi|con is set to hold a wide range of interactive events and activities including demonstrations of various cultural aspects of Japanese Society. Among these Kakkoi|con will have a wide range of panels concerning the American and Japanese side of the Anime Industry, musical performances by both live bands and DJ's, gaming of all types, professional voice actors, contests, and much more.

Theatre Mu will perform at opening ceremonies on Friday.

Kakkoi|con, Minneapolis, Minnesota's newest anime convention, is excited to announce the following guests:

Tiffany Grant - Tiffany has voiced some of the most memorable characters in all of anime such as Maki in Burn-up and Burn-up W, Satella Harvenheit in Chrono Crusade, Charlotte in Kaleido Star, Ryoko Subaru in Nadesico, Daiko Hayami of Cutey Honey, Altena in Noir, Yoko Tokashiki in Princess Nine, Jun in Sol Bianca, and of course Asuka Langley Sohryu in Neon Genesis Evangelion. While the list may seem long, it's only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the massive talent that Tiffany brings with her everywhere she goes.

Luci Christian - Luci Christian's voice acting credits for ADV Films include Kaname Chidori in Full Metal Panic! and Full Metal Panic FUMOFFU!, Sasshi in Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Ran Kotobuki in Super Gals!, Yukari in Azumanga Daioh, Duck/Princess Tutu in Princess Tutu, Mikura in Mezzo for TV, Margaret in Madlax, Tetsu in Peacemaker, Risa in DNAngel, Himeno in Pretear, Sarah/Kate in Kaleido Star, Degiko in Panyo Panyo DigiCharat, Mugimaru in Nurse Witch Komugi, and Luna in Gravion and Gravion Zwei. For Funimation Entertainment, she's played Psiren and Wrath in Fullmetal Alchemist, Rico in Gunslinger Girl, Komachi in Samurai 7, Louis Ft. Drake in Galaxy Railways, Kosuna in Desert Punk, and Asuna in Negima. Luci lives in Houston with her trusty dog, Pacino.

Leah Clark - Leah Clark is a music theater actress who started doing voice work for FUNimation in 2003. Her first major role was Nodoka in Negima. She has since voiced Noah in the Fullmetal Alchemist Movie, Akane in Rumbling Hearts, Eri in School Rumble, and Suzuka in Suzuka. Other roles are Junko in Hell Girl, Jeremy in Soltey Rei, Solin in Ragnarok, Haley Martin in Case Closed, Mayu Tomita in Kodocha, Kako in Peach Girl, and Meg in Black Cat. She will also be heard as Maron in the re-release of Dragon Ball Z. For Illumitoon Productions, Leah voices Milfa in Beet, the Vandlebuster and Gaku in BTX. As an ADR script-writer for FUNimation, Leah has worked on Black Cat, One Piece, Peach Girl, Suzuka and Sasami.

Brina Palencia - Brina Palencia is a voice actress and ADR director for Funimation. Her first featured character was Nina Tucker in Full Metal Alchemist. Shortly after she voiced Elsa in Gunslinger Girl. Since then she has voiced the characters of Yue in Negima, Kaoru in Moon Phase (she also directed episodes 21-26 of Moon Phase), Georgie in Shin Chan (for which she also sang the ending theme song), Eve in Black Cat, Maho in Beck, and Honoka in Suzuka. She has also been featured in Kodocha, Burst Angel, Speed Grapher, Basilisk, Trinity Blood, Solty Rei. Tsubabsa, and Mushishi. Recently, she has been cast as Silvia in Aquarion, Ai in Hell Girl, Ralph in Glass Fleet, and she will be playing Tony Tony Chopper in the new Funimation dub in One Piece. She is currently directing School Rumble in which she also plays the part of Mikoto.

Michael McConnohie - Michael's projects include: Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Vampire Hunter D, Fist of the North Star, Zentrix, Teknoman, Robotech, Lensman, Visionaries, Digimon, Wolf's Rain, Inhumanoids, GI Joe, The Castle of Cagliostro, Rurouni Kenshin, Power Rangers, Masked Rider, and many others.
Video game roles include: Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Star Trek: Judgement Rites, Warcraft II, Diablo II, Stonekeep, Zephyr, Inherit the Earth, and many others.
On camera roles include: The District, a recurring role on Passions, General Hospital, Arrest & Trial, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Bike Squad, and many others.

Melodee M. Spevack - With a history in anime that began with ROBOTECH and the original CAPTAIN HARLOCK, Melodee's career credits include DIGIMON, ARGENTOSOMA, FIST OF THE NORTH STAR, PARANOIA AGENT, LAST EXILE, RUROUNI KENSHIN, HARE+GUU, BOBOBO-BOBOBOBO, SAIYUKI RELOAD GUNLOCK, MAGIC KNIGHT RAYEARTH, TEKNOMAN (TEKKAMAN), COWBOY BEBOP, MAR, WOLF'S RAIN and many others. Games include VALKYRIE PROFILE, BATEN KAITOS ORIGINS, LOST ODYSSEY, VAMPIRE - THE MASQUERADE/REDEMPTION, DRAGONSHARD, WARCRAFT III, PARAWORLD, MECH WARRIOR 4 and STAR TREK. She has voice doubled Sigourney Weaver (ALIEN: RESURRECTION), Laura Dern and others. Melodee was the voice of Commander Shran's Andorian lieutenant in ENTERPRISE: Kir'shara.

VAEIDOS - Kakkoi|con is very excited to introduce VAEIDOS, a unique new hybrid rock quartet with members from both Japan and the United States consisting of Xion on vocals, Perry on guitar, Gene on bass & AiRA on drums. Representing the Japanese side of the equation are Xion & AiRA. Bringing in Westernized perspectives are the two Americans, Perry & Gene. They are currently based out of Los Angeles, California. Yaya Han - Yaya is a costume designer and cosplay entertainer with over 8 years of experience and 70+ costumes under her belt. After discovering cosplay at her first con almost a decade ago, she quickly absorbed the heart and soul of costume design and creation. To this day Yaya has made a myriad of costumes in the genres of anime/manga, video games, sci-fi and of course from her designs. Her intricate and lavish creations have won awards and acclaim nationwide; she has taught a multitude of panels on costume craftsmanship, presentation, makeup, wigs and more; and she has traveled to conventions within the USA as well as internationally to Italy, Mexico and Brazil as guest and costume contest judge. Yaya is looking forward to Kakkoicon 2008 with great enthusiasm and would like to share her knowledge and experience in the fields of cosplay and costume design with everyone!

Yuffiebunny - YuffieBunny started cosplaying back in 2001 and finally brought some official cosplays out into the public mid 2003. She's known for cosplaying as Rikku from the popular video game series Final Fantasy but also likes to dress up as her favorite anime characters as well as JRock musicians. YuffieBunny has used cosplay as a spring board for many things like costume and fetish modeling, using her talents for design and set design to launch new and unique photos to the public. These photos have gotten much attention and given her the opportunity to appear on TV and CD covers as well as numerous site and magazine interviews; all of which have appeared world wide. Lately she has started judging and doing other guest related activities at anime cons across the USA and hopes to continue doing so with the support from her friends and fans.
