News for Castle Point Anime Convention 2009:

Castle Point Anime Convention announces musical guests

HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY - March 20th, 2009 - Musical artists MC Frontalot, Bit Shifter, Bubblyfish, and visualist NO CARRIER will be performing at the 2009 Castle Point Anime Convention as this year's musical guests.

About MC Frontalot: The original mastermind of Nerdcore Hip-Hop and still its Final Boss, MC Frontalot (nee Damian Hess) takes great pleasure in identifying himself as a professional rapper in polite conversation.

About Bit Shifter: Bit Shifter explores high-energy, low-bit music composed and performed on a standard Nintendo Game Boy. The result is an unapologetically fun foray into an evocative and distinctive soundset, executed on a console generally misperceived as being technically limited. Made possible by Oliver Wittchow and Johan Kotlinski's respective home-brew musicmaking programs Nanoloop and Little Sound Dj, Bit Shifter's music explores the aesthetics of economy and attempts to push minimal hardware to its maximum. Based in New York City, Bit Shifter has released music on 8bitpeoples, 555 Recordings, Mirex, Ketacore, and Astralwerks, and has performed over a hundred shows worldwide.

About Bubblyfish: A sound artist, composer, and audio engineer, Haeyoung Kim explores the territory of sounds in electronic music. Currently, under the name Bubblyfish, she has been creating 8-bit and experimental sound works.

About NO CARRIER: NO CARRIER, or Don Miller, is an educator, programmer, and live visualist living in Philadelphia. He reprograms nearly obsolete video game and computer hardware for use at live music events and installations. He primarily codes for the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Commodore 64, creating visual works that incorporates both new and recycled symbols and patterns. His work simultaneously speaks to the emerging DIY technology culture, and the reminiscence of a generation raised on interactive media technologies.
