News for Zenkaikon 2008:

Zenkaikon 2008 announces cosplay ball, cosplay dating game and AMV contest

VALLEY FORGE, PA - Zenkaikon 2008 is pleased to announce three more of its major events: the Cosplay Ball, the Cosplay Dating Game, and the Anime Music Video Contest.

Zenkaikon's First Annual Cosplay Ball!
The Zenkaikon Ball is a formal costume dance party taking place Friday evening. Plus instructors will be on hand to teach you Japanese, English and Scottish folk dancing. No prior dance experience is necessary to take part in the lessons! For rules and more information, please visit: http://www.zenkaikon.com/cosplayball.html

Zenkaikon's 2008 Cosplay Dating Game:
Come join us for a hilarious good time as the classic 'Dating Game' takes on a whole new meaning with cosplaying bachelors and bachelorettes! Are you a serious cosplayer? Do you really know your character? Would you like to compete for a "date" with a lovely bachelorette or handsome bachelor? Then you need to audition for Zenkaikon's Cosplay Dating Game!
One of the biggest changes we have made from last year to this year is the addition of two seperate segments - PG13 and 18+. Applicants ages 15-17 can apply for the PG 13 segment (parental consent waiver required). Applicants 18 and up and can apply for the 18+ segment (valid ID required).

* Dating Game Format:
Just like in the traditional 'Dating Games' of yesteryear TV, this dating game is similar. 3 Bachelors or 3 Bachelorettes sit on one side of a curtain, on the other side is the 'prize', an elusive bachelor or bachelorette for one of the 3 other contestants to 'win'. Twist is, you're in costume and you ARE your character. The prize will ask several questions which you must answer in character and then choose which one they want. There will be several rounds of the dating game. One game will be rated for 18+(in the evening) and one will be rated PG 13 (during the day). There are different requirements for each game, so read on!

* Winners of the Dating Game: will receive their picture on our website, some pocky and snacks to take on their 'date' and special reserved seating at the Masquerade (no waiting in line, folks!) if they choose to attend it as a 'couple'. (Winners are not required to go on a real date, its pretend).
Applications are due no later than September 19, 2008.
Chosen applicants will be notified by October 3, 2008.

Please read the rules thoroughly before submitting. Improvements in this year's contest include: additional prize categories (provided enough submissions are received); the acceptance of non-competing music videos for a showcase; and expanded formats for submission.
