News for Ikkicon 2009:

Ikkicon announces new round of guests, mascot design, and events

(Austin, Texas) Ikkicon is pleased to announce Tony Salvaggio, J. Shanon Weaver, Jamie Marchi, Wendy Powell, Brett Weaver, Clarine Harp, Carrie Savage, Kristine Sa, and Peelander-Z as the 2nd wave of guests for Ikkicon 2009.

In addition Ikkicon will be hosting an Invitational Mixed Martial Arts tournament. The initial requirements so far are all competitors must be 18 years of age and older, and must be a recognized black belt in at least one form of martial arts. Information about how to sign up, and tournament schematics will be released at a further date.

Ikkicon has also selected the 2009 mascot design that can be seen on the official website www.ikkicon.com.

-Tony Salvaggio has been an almost life-long fan of anime and manga.He has worked as an artist, animator, and designer in the video games industry. He is currently co-writing "Psy-Comm" (an original graphic novel series for Tokyopop) as well as the anime/manga influenced story "Clockwerx" (for Humanoids Publishing).

-J. Shanon Weaver is a voice actor and Co-Founder of "A Chick and A Dude" Productions, which got three awards from the Austin Circle of Theaters for its homegrown drama "HIT.", which was honored for Shanon Weaver's script, Melissa Livingston's direction, and the full cast performance. Voice credits include Ginji in Getbackers, Kenshin Himura in the Samurai X Movies, and Taikoubou Doushi in Soul Hunter.

-Jamie Marchi is a theatre major who has been acting professionally since 2000. Her most well known voice role is that of the sexy thief-for-hire Rinslet Walker, on Black Cat, and more recently she is known for Masane Amaha in the anime adaptation of Witchblade in addition to those characters she has had roles on Fullmetal Alchemist, Negima!, Trinity Blood and Yu Yu Hakusho.

-Wendy Powell has been a professional voice actress for Funimation Entertainment and Okratron 5000 for 5 years and has recently signed a contract with a new company called Illumitoons Productions. She is most well known for a little villain named “Envy” on Fullmetal Alchemist.

-Brett Weaver is an American voice actor working with ADV Films, known for his roles in the English-language dubs of anime series. Brett got his start in radio before falling into more anime voice-over roles with ADV Films.

-Clarine Harp (born January 5, 1978) is a voice actress and producer specializing in televised anime. Harp was hired by FUNimation Entertainment in 2003 to voice the character of Tweedledee in Kiddy Grade.

-Carrie A. Savage is a prolific American voice actor and actor who is perhaps best known for her role of Rakka in Haibane Renmei and also Hakufu Sonsaku in Ikki Tousen.

-Kristine Sa is a multilingual singer/songwriter born in Vietnam and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her career took off, under Indie label Nemesis Records, when her debut album, 'I Never Knew' [2002] was released, with sales reaching as far out as Taiwan, Australia, and the UK.

-And last but not least, Peelander-Z is a Japanese punk band based in New York City. They bill themselves as a "Japanese Action Comic Punk band hailing from the Z area of Planet Peelander".
