Sangawa Project 2012
July 13-15, 2012
Best Western Parkway Center Inn
Pittsburgh, PA
Anime Convention with Adult programming
Organized by Pittsburgh Japanese Culture Society
The Sangawa Project was born out of the disenfranchised older Anime/Otaku's feelings when attending the conventions of today. At current conventions there is an inability to discuss fandoms that are older than 1-2 years, along with a lack of tolerance of older anime and video games by younger convention goers. There are a number of topics that a younger fan may not grasp or find interesting: legal topics (fan subbing, piracy, pornography, etc), financial, social, Japanese cultural, or general sexual. These topics at a normal convention can degrade into "because I said so" arguments or not happen because the attendees/organizers do not feel they are necessary.
With this year and the coming years The Sangawa Project aims to become a place where fans who have grown tired of the circuit can come, relax, and remember what it was like to be a fan.
