Austin Taiko is a performance group that is dedicated to the ancient Japanese art of synchronized percussion. Taiko means, "Great Drum". Feel the primal rhythms of this great traditional art form, performed with a unique Austin flair.
Taiko (Japanese drumming) combines hard-hitting dynamic percussion rhythms and energetic choreographed movements. A 20-30 minute show is performed using impressively large wooden drums, weighing 75 to 150 pounds each. Players wear Japanese costumes and perform both traditional and original pieces.
