Biography:
Do you want to learn Japanese? Or maybe you want to visit Japan someday! If you're looking for ways to expand your knowledge of Japanese culture some place a little closer to home, then look no further than the Japan America Society of Maine.
The Japan America Society of Maine is a non-profit, volunteer association of Maine residents actively engaged in bringing the people of Japan and America closer together through a variety of programs and events. Every year our members gather together nearly once a month to celebrate Japanese holidays, dine out at local Japanese restaurants, or participate in cultural learning activities. We have several reoccuring events that happen each year, including our New Year's Oshogatsu party in January, an Ohanami cherry blossom viewing festival in the Spring, and our Annual Meeting and Otsukimi (moon viewing) party in September. We also work closely with other Maine-based Japanese organizations such as the Bath-Tsugaru Sister City Exchange and Friends of Aomori to educate Mainers about ways to interact with Japan right here in our home state. As an organization with a broad network of members, we can help you find the resources you need to explore your interest in Japan.
