Biography:
Richard Comely worked as a sign painter, crest, embroidery and clothing designer, portrait artist and graphic designer before publishing Captain Canuck from Winnipeg in 1975 and Star Rider and The Peace Machine in 1981.
Richard has taught drawing since 1989. He has written and illustrated for magazines and newspapers in Canada and The U.S. He wrote and illustrated three newspaper strips as well as children's books, greeting cards and storyboards. He helped create a one year post graduate course in comic book scripting and illustration for Mohawk College. His Drawing from the Pros video was a best seller in the North American educational market.
He is working with Chapterhouse on an ongoing Captain Canuck comic series that began with a 2015 Free Comic Book Day edition, Captain Canuck: "Tell The Story" workbook, the original series compendium and Captain Canuck: "Enter The Crime Stopper" comic- created in conjunction with Crime Stoppers and Mac's Crime Busters. Richard is also involved in the Captain Canuck animated series, an animated feature film, along with a live-action being eyed for 2018.
Richard and his wife Evelyn, married since 1975, have 8 children and eight grandchildren.
