Sakura-Con has announced that GameWorks is sponsoring the convention and that the first 6000 pre-registrants (until February 28th) will each receive 30 minutes of free gameplay from GameWorks in Seattle, WA. (This includes anyone who has already pre-registered as well.)

Jennifer Pon has stepped down as the current Chief Executive Officer for the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Anime, Anime Expo's parent organization. Chad Kime, SPJA Board Member, will act as the interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found.

Bakuretsu Con's primary hotel has sold out, but overflow hotel space is available at neighboring hotels. Bakuretsu Con will be held October 21-23 in Burlington, VT.

Sakura-Con has issued a press release announcing that their room block at the Grand Hyatt is full. Space is still available at nearby hotels, but going fast. Pre-registrations are also reported to be up over 45% from last year at this time.

Planning ahead, the dates for Anime Boston 2007 have been announced as April 20-22, 2007. This will move the event back to its usual April timeframe rather than Anime Boston 2006's May 26-28, 2006 dates. Both events will take place at the Hynes Convention Center and Sheraton Boston Hotel.
