News for Tokyo In Tulsa 2008:

The Slants announce appearance at Tokyo in Tulsa

Tokyo in Tulsa is pleased to announce that The Slants will be performing at the upcoming convention, joining the current lineup of Crispin Freeman (voice actor) and Wendy Powell (voice actor).

2008 will be Tokyo in Tulsa's much-anticipated inaugural year. The convention will focus on anime, video games, music, and include many surprise activities involving The Slants.

The Slants have just released their album, "Slanted Eyes, Slanted Hearts" and is already catching widespread attention with press from Asian Week, the Asian Reporter, the Asian American Press, and Shojo Beat. Like many rock artists, The Slants see their music as a melting pot of influences. They blend the sounds pioneered by New Order and Depeche Mode with more contemporary writing styles such as The Faint, Daft Punk, and The Killers.

The Slants have just played for over 3,000 fans at Kumoricon and are also scheduled to perform at Pacific Media Expo, Animix, and several other conventions.

"We are excited to be a part of Tokyo in Tulsa," explains lead singer, Aron, "and we can't wait to meet many of the fans that in person that we've been talking to online over the last few months."

Bassist and band founder Simon Young adds "We're going to melt some faces off with rock n' roll- Chinatown style."
